I mentioned last year that I got a VERY nice royalty check from DC/Warner Bros. Yesterday I received what could be considered the other end of the spectrum: a royalty for use of Amanda Waller. 10¢.I kid you not! Funny thing about this, my part in the creation of Amanda was strictly in the visuals, and even there the writer told me to model her after Nell Carter. And so far, except in animation, Hollywood had shied away from that version. So I'm not really sure what I'm being paid for!!!

Heh. I see what happened here. My laptop originally showed a B instead of the cent sign. Nothing to see here. Move along.

When looking at a list of characters you created, I noticed Amanda Waller was listed, but since it was from Legends I doubted you had a lot of input into that creation. Though honestly it wouldn't have surprised me if you did because one thing I've noticed you have a knack for is creating strong female characters like Maggie Sawyer and Heather Hudson.

Wow. Even if the writer of the Legends story Waller debuted in got paid several hundred times more than JB, he would still be only a few dollars richer today.

Maybe if you set up direct deposit with them they would pass the price of postage on to you. You could have quintupled your money.

I often wondered how they calculate royalties. Is a contractual percentage used or just some accounting algorithm?

That 10¢ can go a long way if your time machine is working...
