So, the trailer is finally out, here.

The cast is pretty amazing.  Does anybody know if this is intended as a franchise to adapt the whole book series, or if they're compositing to, say, get it down to three films?

AS I understand it, it is meant to be a continuation from the last book rather than a series adaptation.

Never read the series, but yes, a great deal of the film seems to take place in OUR world, not the Gunslinger's.

It's not intended to be a direct adaptation, although there will be plenty of familiar aspects in the story, weaving parts of multiple books in this first movie. To say more would give away huge plot points from the book series itself.

Not feelin' it... my own hunch is this could be one of the bigger duds of the summer.  Unless it turns out to be genius filmmaking, I don't see general audiences flocking to this one, as the DARK TOWER series doesn't feel like it has a lot of pop culture pull, except where die-hard Stephen King fans are concerned.

And from the sounds of things, half of those fans may end up hating the approach this film is taking.
