I was wondering if your cover to Fantastic Four #249 was an homage to Superboy#197?

It'll be a chilly day in Heck before you see me homage the Legion!

(And for those who struggle to read between the lines, that means NO.)

Always makes me happy that JB is not a Legion fan. I could never get into the LOSH;* however, I think that to be due to the Grell era costumes when I was 6.
Just.
Couldn't.
Deal.

*First successful usage of a semi-colon in my lifetime. Thanks to Mignon Fogerty.

Never cared for the Legion, either. "Thing He Does Lad" and "Different Thing She Does Girl", and "Dopey Name Kid" and "Stupid Costume Lad" and "Required To Be Called 'Lass' Lass"...and their REAL names sounded like random Don Martin sound effects!
Feh...why would Superboy want to hang out with those shmucks?

Eric Lad is the best LSH member. Or maybe that was the JBF?

When we speak of the Legion, we must remember the twins who can switch genders -- Lass Lad and Lad Lass.

(And thank you Mark Gruenwald for those two!)

There was a couple of years in the mid seventies that I read Superboy regularly. At that age I was drawn to "the more characters the better" aspect.
I think most of those stories were written by Shooter.

They live in the future. They have a time machine. They're beautiful. I've wasted no small share of time suffering awful people because one of them dressed like Shadow Lass.

Although I guess Superboy could go to the future on his own power and hang out with whichever cooler hot people he wants.

I never liked much from DC through my youth. What finally got me reading DC comics regularly was the Legion. Still my all-time favorite DC series. Maybe because the huge cast is fun. Maybe it's the soap-opera style of writing from the Levitz era. Or maybe because it's its own separate world, mostly free of other comics.

I thought a lot of them looked really cool but was never able to actually read and enjoy the comics.

Myself, I love the Legion, but I can understand why some might not.
