On Comiclink there is a piece by John, the auction mentions its a Playboy
illustration.
John,
Do you remember what this piece was done for? Is it published? If so was it for
Playboy? Thanks.

Well, it LOOKS like my work, but I don't remember it at all!

The face of the woman sitting on the guy makes me think of Minara.

WOW, That certainly does look like JB's work. I wonder when they claim this was done?

I Must agree. There is nothing to suggest it is not JB's work.

Not denying it's mine. It's just that after 20,000 pages, not everything shines so brightly as once it did!

I understand. I have worked in the technical graphics field for a very long time and produced so many base plans/maps/figures/schematics with revisions and specific published content that I no longer put any effort into remembering any of it.

I remember what is important and write everything else down. Usually I'll create a database and if it is not worth the effort of a database, than it is not worth any effort at all.

Looks like very-late 80's/early 90s-era JB to me.

Ha! Good one!

Good to see a piece proposed for something other than comic books. My favorite cartoonist for The New Yorker is Tom Cheney - his work for the magazine is smart and funny, fitting perfectly into the pages of the publication. He also did cartoons for National Lampoon and Penthouse, and they were equally as funny, but the content was for a different readership, and he was versatile enough that he could do material that was edgy or sexual.

It a good looking piece.

I agree with Vinny, very late 80's to
early '91. The inking makes me think
ninties, but the stewardesses shoulder
pads, make me think 80's. It's pre-May
1991. I know this because that's when I
turned 18. I had a five year run on
Playboy, and despite being distracted by
other aspects of the magazine, I would
have remembered this, and it's not in any
issue I ever collected.
