Saw all the other prior Topics on this were locked and had some questions for anyone in the forum who might know anything on this.

Was crushed to get an email a few days ago from DCBS saying the "G.I. JOE Artist Edition" was cancelled.
I was REALLY looking forward to this GI JOE edition and it was solicited WAY back in April 2016 so I was eagerly awaiting it's release.

I know Chris Ryall from IDW used to post on the forum and was hoping maybe he might read this or someone on the forum ,who owns a LCS or is in the industry might know if this will be resolicited later or not.
On IDW's store page,It states "not available at this time, please see your Local retailer" and shows a release date of " June 2017". This makes it sound like it was released in a limited quantity and other later orders cancelled?
 http://www.idwpublishing.com/product/g-joe-real-americ an-hero-artists-edition-hc/

And then Previews site shows a release date of DEC 2017?
https://www.previewsworld.com/Catalog/APR160507

A second greater concern or question for all was the IDW  "Steranko Nick Fury & Captain America Artist Edition" solicited way back in DEC 2014.

Previews keeps showing an updated release date that never comes.
Now it says DEC 2017.
It's been 2.5 years and I can find no word online anywhere on when or if this will be released.
This is the other Artist Edition I preordered and am dying to hold in my hands.

Anyone in the forum have any info or inside scoop on these two Editions by IDW?

Thanks in advance for any help or info.

Short answer on G.I. Joe is that pre-orders probably weren't high enough to justify printing the book. As you can imagine, it's really expensive to print those books.

The Artist Editions are beautiful books.
But, they aren't cheap. I was getting as
many as I could but then they started
coming too fast. So, I backed out instead
if trying to keep up with them. IDW wasn't
the only ones publishing volumes like this
either. The market got flooded and a I
think a lot of people did what I did.

I'm hoping to get back in soon but I think
IDW would be wise to put out one a quarter
instead of one or two a month.

Typically, the Artist Edition books only sell about 1,000 copies. I was surprised how low that number is. But that being the case, low pre-orders could certainly result in a book being cancelled.

"Probably" answers are really not very helpful.

Scott Dunbier, the editor of the Artist's Editions, often posts in a thread dedicated to them on the Marvel Masterworks forum. That's the best place to ask your question, and he may well have already answered it. I'd post a link but their site is down at the moment.

Here's a general link in case you want to check:

Last I heard, Steranko is not done with the second Nick Fury book.

I said "probably" so that I didn't come off as speaking for IDW. When I asked Scott Dunbier about the book earlier in the year, he told me that pre-orders were lower than expected, so the book was on hold.

So why speak at all? All it does is muddy the waters.

I clarified that in my follow-up response. I can go back and strike "probably" from my first post if that clears things up.

I agree that the Artist's Edition have come out a little
too often. I jumped at the chance to buy the Romita
Spider-Man book that came with a head sketch and signed
by both Lee and Romita. Great deal and great book.
Then they announced a Kirby New Gods book. No brainer
for me. Then all the others started rolling out and I
had to make choices and they were easier to avoid. I
would like more opportunities for signed and sketched
versions, otherwise I'm pretty content with the two I
have.
