While not a self-portrait, the short bearded character with glasses on the following cover is a caricature of JB:

I am amused that, after ALL the times I have drawn myself into the books, there are still people who don't know what I looked like. Such as when I got Paul Kupperberg to make a 4 panel guest appearance in NEW VISIONS. Lot of people thought he was me!

(Extra curious, when I DID use myself in STNV, it seemed some folk did not know it was me!)

She was a friend around the time I was working on that issue. We lost touch over the intervening decades. In a truly staggering happenstance I learned just yesterday that she died of cancer in 2016.

So, most sincere condolences to her family and friends.

Just got the first two volumes of STNV in the mail over the weekend and I thought it was great how you used an older pic of yourself in the second volume from around the time the original series was on and pasted it on the heads of all the cast to explain the process in a very comical way.

Spent two years building slowly and carefully to that page. Thought the job was done. Sadly, others took far less time to deliberately undo my work.
