I find it interesting that the more Marvel Comics drives me away, the more I'm involved with and enjoy the Marvel movies and TV series!  The characters are still in my life, just not in one way I would like.

The MCU is far more reminiscent of classic Marvel comics than the modern books, in terms of characters and tone. Steve Rogers is an earnest Captain America; Bruce Banner finds himself transformed in to a raging beast of unfettered fury; Tony Stark is a genius inventor with cool armor; Thor is regal, kind of arrogant, and swings a mean hammer. The movies have action, but it's mostly "comic-booky" (in a good way!). There are grim, sad moments...some lulls, but it's mostly the straightforward type of adventure the books used to give us.

All bets may be off with INFINITY WAR...seems like changes are afoot. But we had a good decade, at least...

Thanks, Robbie and Eric. I'm trying to get better at ignoring when that
happens, but it bothers me a lot more than it should.

Wallace, if you're talking about people not explaining why it's their favorite character, it does say in the initial post that it would be great to read why it's their favorite character, but does not make it a mandatory part of the response, so no rules are broken by just listing the character.
