Pick five Marvel villains vs villains battles you’d like to see. Please, no ‘honourable mentions’ or ties - and no contrived reasons to pick more than five (i.e. “I was going to pick this because I like that, but I thought about this for that reason - but now I’m going with this or that!”).

(You can be flexible with the term “villain”, i.e. Galactus isn’t technically a villain, but he’s a destructive being).

Also, can you please at least provide reasons for some of your choices.

Here are the five battles I’d sacrifice a body part, like Odin, to read about:

  1. Destroyer VS Juggernaut

  2. Dormammu VS Nightmare

  3. Mandarin VS Doctor Doom

  4. Kraven the Hunter VS Lizard

  5. Mephisto VS Kang

I cannot predict Destroyer VS Juggernaut. Both seem near-unstoppable. Both appear to have forward momentum that few things can stop. I’ve always wondered if Juggernaut’s invulnerability includes surviving Destroyer’s energy beams.

Dormammu VS Nightmare would be fun. I’m guessing Dormammu is much more powerful, but would he lose advantages on Nightmare’s home turf?

I’d love to see Doom and Mandarin clashing - I predict a Doom win.

It seems that Kraven would relish the challenge of hunting down Lizard.

Mephisto may well underestimate Kang. How well would Kang fare against Mephisto?

EDIT: Clarity.

Great idea Robbie. Not sure about mine but I always think back to a fantastic issue of Captain America by Mark Gruenwald and Keiron Dwyer during Acts of Vengeance which was basically Magneto v Red Skull.

Hmmm.
Dracula vs. Doctor Doom.  "For the soul of Latveria!"
Magneto vs. Graviton. "Fundamental Forces!"
Frightful Four vs. U-Foes.  "Four-Fold Destruction!"
Annihilus vs. Ultron.  "Death In The Negative Zone!"
Super-Skrull vs. The Super-Adaptoid.  "Power Struggle!"

Super-Skrull vs Doctor Doom would be a very interesting fight.
Maybe also:
MODOK vs the Leader
Abomination vs Blob
Red Skull vs Magneto rematch
Kang vs Ultron

Excellent choices, all.

I don't want any idea overdone, but rather than origin retellings, sequels to classic tales and other rehashes, I think there might be some mileage in Marvel exploring some villain vs villain encounters.

Not in a contrived sense, of course (unlike hero/villain encounters, villain vs villain wouldn't be motivated by revenge or saving the world). But, hey, perhaps Dormammu wants some of Nightmare's power. Maybe the Mandarin has something that Doctor Doom wants. And perhaps Kraven would relish the opportunity to hunt down the Lizard...

There are a few villains that keep appearing in posts - which I guess means they are very popular. :)

Can we go adversary vs adversary?

1) The Squadron Supreme vs the Imperial Guard... because who DOESN'T want to see the Justice League against the Legion of Super Heroes? :)

2) Green Goblin vs Venom. Kinda the ultimate Spider-Man foes battle (and yes, I know there are thirty-six dozen other ultimate Spider foes. Did I ask you, Charlie? Post your own opinion! :) :) :)

3) Dr. Doom vs the Master of the World. Bombast vs bombast!

4) Ultron vs Dormammu. The ultimate magic vs. science combat, I should think.

5) Count Nefaria vs Hyperion. Just because I want a big ol' knock down drag out toughest superguy free for all.

This may not have been the first time I've done this topic, but science vs magic often figures in people's choices. It fascinates me. Because as powerful as some magicians are, how good is that against a scientific attack of great power? Or, as powerful as some science-driven characters are, how good is that against a magical attack of great power?

Robbie - your questions hit on the point of the stories that I'd like to see. We've seen magic vs magic and we've seen science vs science. These can be excellent stories, and when Dr. Doom is involved, nothing is out of bounds!

Say, that'd be another good one... Dr. Doom vs Korvac/Michael. But I don't want to fake slip in a sixth choice, so please consider that as an example, not a request...? Purely hypothetical?

Dammit. I am filled with shame.
