"Because the Night." Written by Bruce Springsteen and Patti Smith and fist released by the Patti Smith Group (though Springsteen had recorded an unreleased version himself prior to that). My favorite version is the cover by 10,000 Maniacs, but there have been a ton of covers of it.

I'm pretty fond of quite a few of these choices... they're goodies!

I think my top choice (right this instant) is "Somewhere Friday Night" by the Turtles.
Close runner up is "Saturday Night's Alriight" by The Who. I swear that song could have been slid into "Quadrophenia" as a perfect fit.
