Just how long has Joe Quesada been Marvel's E-i-C? It feels like ages. A new broom might (I said might) help.

Quesada has been Chief Creative Officer for Marvel Entertainment since 2010.  Axel Alonso has been Marvel Comics Editor-in-Chief since 2010.

Quesada was EiC from 2000 to 2010.

So I guess basically we have two guys to blame now.

What about `Novelist` Bendis`s writing? I wonder if he
was such a great novelist why he`s writing awful comics
and not earning mega-Bucks like King,Patterson etc?

I appreciate your confidence in my abilities, John. ;-)

I have no editorial experience, but I'm already planning what I'd do. Events would become as frequent as the FIFA World Cup (every four years); crossovers would be kept to a minimum; and I'd insist on mainly standalone tales, with occasional 2-4 parters allowed once every couple of years or so.

And once every 2 years, December would be "cross-pollination month". Editors would have to give us standalone tales featuring new encounters. So X-Men would face Dr. Octopus, Captain America would take on the Vulture, Iceman would battle Kraven, and Spider-Man would take on Bullseye.

He's written novels?

His dialog is some of the worst I've read. Suffers from "Snappy patter" syndrome. Which also afflicts many of his fellow Marvel writers.

Apparently that was the big selling point when he joined
Marvel, the talking heads and decompressed storytelling
tell me he has not changed his method to suit monthly
superhero comics.

'Novelist' Bendis would wear out his comma and period keys.

Bendis is a master of padding, and that's about it. He can take something that could easily be done in 3 to 4 issues or less, and drag it out to 6 or more.

He's the George R.R. Martin of comics in that way. The only difference is it doesn't take frickin' forever for Bendis' work to hit the stands.

I can imagine the two page Batman story I posted in the Len Wein thread being padded out to a year+ arc if written by Bendis!

And by the end of it Batman and Hourman will be gay and engaged.
