The Champions don't get enough love (from myself, too!). There was a topic done about them once. It was hard, even with my less-cynical childhood brain, not to see them as anything other than third-string, akin to substitutes on a soccer bench (who are okay, but not deserving of the A or B teams!).
So let's give them a good opponent to battle, eh? They never seemed to get any major villains, certainly not in the comics I read. Oh, I'm thinking of the original Champions in this topic, from the 1975 17-issue series.
Here are the rules (and it'd be so nice if they could be followed by all):
1.) Pick ONE Marvel opponent. NOT a team, not a duo, not a trio. ONE opponent. He/she must be a villain. Again, Marvel only, not DC, Image, etc.
2.) No honourable mentions, ties, contrived reasons to pick more than one. I have this rule because I think any of us, myself included, can all pick a "laundry list" of names. No, I want people to THINK carefully and come up with just ONE opponent.
Over to you.
For me, my opponent for the Champions would be the Mandarin. The Mandarin's rings provided much opposition for the likes of the Hulk - so Hercules' super-strength may not necessarily be an advantage. Iceman, Black Widow and Angel could be in trouble. Not sure how Ghost Rider would fare, his supernatural powers may give him the edge (or equalize the situation). I certainly don't think it'd be the easiest time for the Champions.
