JB,
I really like that sidenote above. Neal Adams didn't so much come in and change Batman, but "evolved" him over time. Neal made a bridge between Infantino and Aparo (and Novick).
Of course, as bridges go, Neal Adams would be the Golden Gate.

I saw that ad in passing, didn't give it a third thought after registering that someone was doing a Superman/Captain Marvel story about them as clones or brothers or something...

Captain Marvel looks way too much like Superman in that picture. How can someone screw up one of the most unique-looking faces in comics?****** Sometimes they make it look easy! I did a project a while back that had Superman and Cap in it, and I was very careful to make sure they had distinct faces. The inker redrew both to make them look the same!

Not only are individual characters at Marvel and DC
drawn differently from title to title, they are also
written differently. Marvel's "lines" in particular are
destroying everything which distinguishes their best
known heroes (For example: Is Nick Fury black or
white? Is Spider-Man married or single? And on and
on...) And now DC seems to be doing the same
thing with their All Star "line" of books.
It's just insane how both companies seem intent on
taking all the character out of their characters.

Sad. |

I had that problem with the latest issue of Ultimate Spider-Man -- I had
to make sure the character I was looking at was Harry Osborn and not
Peter Parker a number of times.
I think JB's argument here is incredibly valid, but what are you going to
do? There are so few professionals working in the industry today --
artists, editors, writers, you name it -- that it's no wonder the industry we
all love is dying a slow death.

That's an outrage. Superman should always look like Christopher Reeves
(grin) and Captain Marvel should always look like a young Fred McMurray.

That Ian Churchill art, for me, is really horrible. It pretty much encapsulates everything I hate about modern comic art. Bad anatomy, stiff characters, no substance etc.

I agree, Robert -- it looks like mid-'90s Image art.

Two of the most unique faces in comics. I'm not sure by
one whether you meant Superman or Captain Marvel, but both have very
obvious faces that just don't look like each other.

Captain Marvel was based on a real person, Fred McMurray. That
should be the mandatory model for the character. Alex Ross has
pulled that off quite well. If you simply observe that, then
Superman and Captain Marvel will look different.

I do have one question:
1. Is Metamorpho in DP10 drawn "on character" or was his appearance a result of his mutation?
