JB, some time ago you mentioned that you thought that Superman vs Muhammed Ali was Neal Adams' best work. I was surprised by that choice as his Batman and Deadman work normally get more attention. You got me to check out a comic that I previously did not have any interest in and it was worth the look.

I would therefore really like to hear your opinion on what you consider to be the best work of  these other great artists (in no particular order):

Jack Kirby
Jose Luis Garcia
Moebius
George Perez
Gene Colan
Berni Wrightson
John Buscema
Joe Kubert
John Romita Sr.
John Romita Jr.

Let's say the first 100 issues of FF, since it is such a prodigious volume of work, and shows his continuing evolution as an artist.

TWILIGHT. Loathed the story, love the art.

THE AIRTIGHT GARAGE OF JERRY CORNELIUS.

WONDER WOMAN.

TOMB OF DRACULA.

FRANKENSTEIN.

AVENGERS (especially with Tom Palmer).

Every line he ever drew.

AMAZING SPIDER-MAN, especially when inking Gil Kane.

The too few issues of IRON MAN we did together.

(And the first one to say "But what about_______?" will get such a PINCH!)

Good list! Wrightson's Frankenstein work was just mind-bogglingly good.

Thanks much! Glad to see I wasn't too far off on some of these.

I met Wrightson at Wonderfest about 10 years ago. Regarding Frankenstein, he said that he when we re-viewed those drawings many years later, he had no idea how he ever had the patience to draw them in the first place.

To me, the great thing about Kubert is there are still lots of stuff I'm just now starting to see, like his Unknown Soldier stories..

Even at the size shown on a computer screen in a comments section, that Kubert page gives me a whole new appreciation for some of the amazing stuff he could pull off.

It took me an absurdly long time to realize just how brilliant Joe Kubert was.

Objectively he was probably the best artist in mainstream comics. He's not my favorite because his "line" is "looser" than I prefer. But there's no doubt he was a genius.

Garcia-Lopez's art on Twilight is so amazing. I liked the story too but I had no affinity for those characters prior to reading Twilight. I'd never even heard of them.
