Yeah, another five years of JKFW would have been a good start! That series and Walt's Orion both ruled.

I liked Walt's Orion better, which I attribute to being more concentrated on fewer characters. Of course, Kirby's New Gods was pretty much an Orion solo book with guest stars.

I like the way JB was able to effectively work with such a large cast of
characters on JKFW.

On the subject of Kirby and the Fourth World titles, I was intrigued by this house ad that I recently found in a comic that hit the newsstands at the end of May 1970 (two weeks after FF #101 went on sale).
I'd seen the "Kirby is Coming!" slogans that appeared in various comics but had never seen this one before. It caught my eye because of the emphasis on the Boom Tube. I'm wondering if it was originally intended as some sort of umbrella title before Fourth World was coined? Google hasn't been much help and I was hoping someone here might know more.

JACK KIRBY'S FOURTH WORLD is way up there on my list of
favorite Byrne works. A huge portion of my original art
collection comes from this series. Beautiful stuff!

JKFW was the best! Loved it all the way through and REALLY loved the back-up stories, reminded me so much of Tales of Asgard.

Loved the series... thumbing thru some issues this week...
... DC should've allowed for a graphic novel (or miniseries) combining ALL of Kirby's Fourth World characters in an EPIC story written and drawn by JB.

Although I had vague memories of Darkseid from the Super Powers cartoon, I was really young, the LEGENDS miniseries was my real introduction to the 4th World saga, specifically the 3-part spin-off that ran through the Superman titles, with Superman stranded on Apokolips, brainwashed into thinking he was Darkseid's son.

I've been reading Jack Kirby's Fourth World (starting with the Jimmy Olsen issues) and I'm amazed that he did something this wildly inventive at 53 years old!

I liked the concept of Apokolips and New Genesis being fused into one world. Half and half. It felt like a unique update on Kirby's original concept which still maintained the spirit of Kirby's original concept.
