Ok….Let’s pretend that somehow, someway Fox with their Marvel properties (X-Men, FF and their ancillary characters) have reached an agreement with Marvel Studios (Capt. America, Thor, Avengers, Iron Man, etc) to collaborate on ONE FILM.

This must be a single film with no plan for a sequel.  And that film must have a story rooted in actual Marvel Comics lore.  In other words it must be an adaptation of an existing comics tale.  Not a totally original story of your own making.

Now all of the characters under both studios (including Spider-Man and his pantheon from the Sony/Marvel partnership) are available for ONE potential blockbuster movie.

Give me YOUR choice for that single film.  Who are the characters?  What is the story for the movie adaptation?

And for s#its and giggles...who is you choice to direct said adventure?

An adaptation of "Maximum Carnage", the 90s Spider-Man arc which saw Spider-Man, Venom and other heroes battling Carnage and assorted supervillains.

And Darren Aronofsky can direct. ;-)

Who'd play Wolverine, given Hugh Jackman played him for the last time in LOGAN?

I'm gonna vote for John Cusack as Wolverine.

Why not Joan?

But seriously....

Cast whoever you like in roles that aren't filled to your liking...if you wanna go that far.

I'm partial to Manu Bennett (Spartacus, Arrow) taking over the role in future films.  But that's my wishful thinking.

This topic... what is this, some kind of joke?

In my mind, no question; Fantastic Four #25 and 26. The ultimate Thing/Hulk fight, with the FF and the Avengers meeting for the first time. Historic event, great story, and Ben Grimm has never shown more heart.

'Cept, let's remember to call him BRUCE Banner.

Director...? Well, Jon Favreau has done a nice job previously. I could see him directing it.

Hate to speak for Eric, but I presumed that his comment was a light-hearted response to your words "walk into a bar..."

FF 242-243, Everybody vs Galactus. Characters as written, maybe add an X-Man or three.  I'd include Storm, Colossus and Kitty.

Oh, and direct, anyone that will have the guts to stay true to the characters and costumes. So...I'm not sure that person exists.

It can only be everyone against the true Galactus. I'd be ok if Galactus had his four Heralds - Silver Surfer, Firebird, Air-Walker, and Terrax.

Russo Bros. to direct.

FF 242-243, Everybody vs Galactus.

****

Seconded. I would love to see this on the big screen! FF 243 was the comic that got me back into comics.

Edited to add that I want Galactus to look like Galactus this time and not a giant space cloud!

David P. - my sincere apologies. Robbie was absolutely right - I saw a paraphrase of a joke:

A priest, a rabbi, and a minister walk into a bar.
The bartender says, "What is this, some kind of a joke?"

There are dozens (at least) of "<someone> walks into a bar." I thought that's what you were posting. I truly meant no insult, and I'm sorry if it came across that way.

Now, to the topic... I find it interesting that several folks are going with Galactus vs. Everybody. I can't deny that it would be a cinematic classic (with the right directing and proper treatment of the characters.) It seems to me that a lot of classic stories, done right, would be tremendous movies. I'll look forward to seeing what others are going to suggest.

@Eric - No need to apologize.

My reply and 'thanks' was sincere.

X-Men vs. The Avengers

Taken from X-Men #9.

The typical miscommunication/interpretation incident leads to the two teams battling, until the real villain shows his face.

Prof. Xavier is alive and well in this movie.

We also will use Evangeline Lilly's Wasp.

The only Fox film I am really happy with is Deadpool. I would want to watch Deadpool vs. Spider-Man. Deadpool is hired by a corrupt politician (not Trump) to deal with critic J.J. Jameson, who Spidey of course tries to protect. Directed by the Cohen brothers.

This would be fun....
assuming the FF is finally adapted in proper fashion.

With James Gunn in the Director's Chair.

Are we also pretending Fox will let Marvel adapt these properties* (X-Men, FF and any secondary characters) correctly??

(*I'm still waiting for a REAL X-MEN film.... don't even get me started on FF!!!)

Why does my gut tell me that if Marvel & Fox ever teamed-up (or if Marvel ever got the rights back from Fox), the very first thing they'd do would be to make SECRET WARS: THE MOVIE?

I agree with Eric Sofer -- FANTASTIC FOUR #25 and #26. Everybody versus the Hulk. Of course it would be rather different from the original story -- the Avengers would surely say to the FF "who are you guys an where did you come from?" And no Rick Jones.

Sure, go ahead and pretend away.

I assume that if the day Marvel Studios EVER gets the FF and X-Men back...they will be done in the MCU style....and possibly (likely) much more accurately than what Fox has done.

But that may still not be acceptable to some.

Okay, then I'd love to see an adaptation of Marvels - the miniseries by Kurt Busiek and Alex Ross.

For those who haven't read it - it's the story of photographer Phil Sheldon's experiences in a world of super heroes, from the rise of the original Human Torch in the late thirties all the way to the dawn of the mutants, the first appearance of Galactus, and the death of Gwen Stacy.

-C!
