Have you heard about Neal Adam’s “growing earth” shtick?  He’s a great artist, but as a physicist, not so much.

Amazing that the number of time I've been in an pbservation deck from a skyscraper I can actually see the curvature of the earth from my vantage point.

When I was a teen, there was a dedicated cable channel (which I think ran continuously, 24/7) that featured orbital views of the earth, via satellite feed. It was in black & white, but the earth was quite clearly spherical.

DAMN that ILM was good back in the day...
