Action Comics #992Astro City #49 Detective Comics #969 Doomsday Clock #1- I want this to be good mainly because of the perceived "Watchmen is untouchable and Alan Moore's work should never be revisited" belief that some fans and most comic book websites have.

Mildly intrigued by DOOMSDAY CLOCK as there's quite a contrast between Superman and Dr. Manhattan (Superman being accessible, empathetic and caring; Manhattan being remote, taciturn and disengaged from humanity).

I'm a fan of DC current superhero books. But I don't get this Watchmen / DC crossover that they've been building up to. It's as if Alan Moore is the estranged father of modern DC who refuses to see his worshipful children. And DC keeps on writing these love letters like Doomsday Clock, which only exacerbates Moore's original grievance (that Watchmen belongs to him).

Joe, is DOOMSDAY CLOCK really a love letter? The idea of an in-story explanation for why DC comics are terrible is stupid enough on its own terms. Johns's DC career has been a fanboy crusade to take Moore down a peg or two, by serially ripping off the very stories Johns blames for ruining comics in the first place. I'm not sure I agree with the logic that writing a shitty sequel adapting WATCHMEN into the DC universe somehow puts it in its place. As far as the popular consciousness is concerned, those terrible prequel comics DC squatted out a few years ago don't even exist.
Johns wants to eat his cake and have Rorschach join the JLA, too. Doesn't DC already own the first generation characters Moore ripped off anyway?

Incidentally, today a Twitter "friend" told me about STARSTRUCK, written by Elaine Lee. I had not heard of it previously. She tells me it influence Moore's work on WATCHMEN.
I'm curious to track down STARSTRUCK.

David,
So far, DOOMSDAY CLOCK is quite different from those pointless (except for a quick buck) BEFORE WATCHMEN comics.
I liked the first issue and I was skeptical of the whole idea, to put it mildly.
And no, Rorshach won't be joining the JLA, trust me. Certainly, Walter Kovacs won't be joining anything...
