I was racking my brain trying to think of an early post credit scene, then I remembered AIRPLANE with the guy who had been sitting in the cab most of the movie. I think that was after the credits rolled but not sure.

An earlier version of the 'after credits scene' was in the Hal Needham/Burt Reynolds movies of the late 70s/early 80s, which also included the concept of the built-in 'blooper reel' during end credits.
