Are you sure that wasn't Captain Marvel Rebecca?

***

Who's Captain Marvel Rebecca? There's a superhero called Rebecca? ;-)

Just kidding.

Rather than starting a new topic, I will say that I've been reading TARZAN ON THE PLANET OF THE APES. Such a crossover seems natural, but I was disappointed. Didn't flow well for me, was slow in places and, despite the fact I thought the premise was sound, it didn't quite mesh for me.

Hopefully the KONG ON THE PLANET OF THE APES series will be better.

CAPTAIN MARVEL REBECCA OF SHAZAMMYBROOK FARM I believe is the full title of the series; it only lasted 'Sivana' eight issues.

Great. Now I'm wondering if the time might finally be right for Super Abraham Lincoln Of The Jungle In Outer-Space! :^D

I'd read it! (But I'd prefer George Washington of the Jungle, to fit in a 'Watch out for that tree!' 'Never mind, I already chopped it down!' reference).;-)

Love the mash ups. I would laugh harder if there hadn't been an actual novel and movie about "Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter." (Really good book, too.)

So now I'm stuck thinking about the Chronicles of Teddy Roosevelt and Doc Savage vs the Universal Monsters of Fu-Manchu! Because I would buy the hell out of that book. Mr. Byrne, you listening...? :D

Mash-ups are like the rap sampling of fiction. Abe made a good vampire remover; I liked the movie.

I think a lot of the appeal of the old original movie Apes for me was the great actors under the latex. Roddy McDowell was so good at it as were Kim Hunter and others. Paul Williams too!

I loved the original PLANET OF THE APES. I really think it's Rod Serling's screenplay that sets it apart.
