It dawned on me earlier this afternoon that 2021 will mark 60 years since the publication of the first issue of FANTASTIC FOUR. I hope Marvel commemorate it in some form.

Then I thought, what are the important anniversaries? I know there won't be a consensus, but I thought I'd ask.

10 would certainly be one. If a title can notch up a decade, that's worth commemorating, I would have thought.

I'd say 25 is definitely worth commemorating. That's a quarter of a century.

And 50 would seem worth commemorating, too. Half a century after all!

So, 10, 25 and 50 would seem to be important milestones, worth recognition via a topic, special issue, magazine article, etc.

But what about other numbers? Should 20 be important? Or not, given 25 is a milestone?

What about 60? 65? Is one more important than another? Should we skip 60 and just wait for the 65th anniversary of something?

Beyond that, I'd say 75 is important. After that, well I guess 100 is. But 90 would seem impressive, too. At the same time, commemorating the 90th anniversary of something seems redundant as it seems more worthwhile to wait for the centenary.

Any views?

I say celebrate any anniversary ending in '0', as well as 'quarters of a century'(25 and 75).
I can recall a couple of long running magazines that did something commemorating 60 years. TIME reached that milestone in 1983, and published a special issue, which covered significant events, although not necessarily in chronological order.
TV GUIDE was pretty much on its last legs for its 60th anniversary, in 2003, and just did a bunch of fakey-collectible 'special' covers.

You see, i think celebrating a 20th anniversary is nice, but 25 sounds so much better. :)

I believe I would celebrate any anniversary that either ends in 0 or is evenly divisible by 25.

And as we close in on March, I'm sure we've all heard about the incredible celebrations DC has for Superman's 80th anniversary. Hmm? No? Nothing?

Well, I KNOW we know about Marvel's big 55th birthday party for the Avengers, yes? No? Marvel hasn't done anything, either?

Robbie, I don't think there is any interest in such anniversaries anymore, I'm afraid. Shucks, I suspect that DC and Marvel celebrate every issue that isn't below the cancellation level. Their sense of history doesn't past a month or two, I suspect.

It's also on my mind as we are heading for milestones, e.g. Batman's 80th anniversary next year.

I'd love to see some celebrations!

I want to remember anniversaries because I think it'd be nice to discuss them here.
