I confess I have not paid much attention to Ms Ringwald's career -- can't honestly say I have seen her in anything -- but this still hurts!!

I was listening to Janet Jackson’s RHYTHM NATION this morning and she asked when it came out. After thinking for just a moment, I realized it has been 29 years. Nearly 30 years since that album came out. How can that be?!?

She did a hat-trick of movies that made my teen self fall in love; SIXTEEN CANDLES, BREAKFAST CLUB and PRETTY IN PINK. I think any actor would be proud to have any of those three on their CV. A shame she pretty much disappeared afterwards.
Anyway, the fact that she's 50 makes me feel seriously old!

Who else's earliest memories of Ringwald were as the bowl cut Molly on Season One of "The Facts of Life?"  And who else didn't feel bad that she didn't make that cut into Season Two?

I think the last thing I remember seeing her in was the TV movie of 'The Stand' in the early 90's.

Still, a happy birthday to someone who was a big part of a group of movies most of us remember fondly.

I saw her in a horror film called "Cut" in which the forces attacking the victims come from the thwarted creativity and imagination of a half-finished horror film Ringwald's character was involved in years ago. Best moment, as this is being explained to everyone on the run, Ringwald argues, "Believe me, I was there when they were filming it, and there was NO creativity or imagination that went into that picture!"

She also has an amazingly well delivered line in a minor indie slasher pic called "The Brutal Truth" that cannot be recounted here. I do not recommend the film, however. It's a sadistic blend of "The Big Chill" with "Irreversible." Unpleasant to say the least.

And she has the button scene at the end of "Not Another Teen Movie" as well. I can't think of too many who can nail a line with the attitude and verve that Molly Ringwald has. She's a performer whose work haven't actively sought out as of yet, but am always happy to find.
