Every cop is not racist.....
....but I'm sure they think every person of color is a threat
The problem is that they are now trained to kill first, then answer questions later.
Odds are the these cops will walk.

...every person of color is a threat••• I'm sure many think this. But many, perhaps all, think everyone is a potential threat. The old lady who jay-walks, the kindergarten kid running late to school, and everyone in between, no matter race or color, could be carrying a gun. And past experiences have shown they might use it.

I don't normally post on these sort of issues but here's a paradox that occurs to me.............The NRA would say that the more guns we all have, the safer we are.The police would say that when they assume someone is armed, that makes them more dangerous, not safer.I wonder if the NRA has made any attempts to talk to law enforcement about this?

Please don't presume to speak for the 800,000 or so Police officers out there. You'd be wrong.
>>>>The problem is that they are now trained to kill first, then answer questions later.
Again...no, they're not. Try and do a LITTLE research before making such an asinine comment.
>>>>>Odds are the these cops will walk.
For the trifecta....Has anything been established as to what was happening there? Have you even heard the alternate theory that he was attempting to break into a neighbor's house and after running away form the police, he turned and ran towards them? Trust me; its out there.

Mr. Byrne - being entirely inexperienced in the ways of our peace offers, I suspect I would allow two more seconds that this takes to say:"Hands up! Drop it! LAST WARNING!!!"
Give that two count and then a warning shot into clear sky (I believe that warnings shots are still used...?)
If that gun starts moving anywhere in that subject's hand... well, he had his fair chance. What kind of MORON points a gun at a policeman?

Warning shots are generally forbidden. Any shot that goes up has to come back down.

——
Mentally ill people trying to commit suicide by cop. Should they just be killed, or should police have training to de-escalate in those circumstances?

Give that two count and then a warning shot into clear sky...••• A guy I used to know told the story of washing his car in the driveway of his house. Suddenly there was a loud WHANG! and he turned to find a bullet hole in the roof, inches from his head. Gravity, man. It's a bitch. (BTW, Glock pistols -- to cite but one example -- fire about 18 rounds per second, which makes two seconds a very long time.)

"indiscriminate police violence"
Think maybe you might want to know what happened before, during and after before you go down that path?
*************************
As the article points out, video/audio recordings have indicated that they never identified themselves as police. Right then and there the police did the wrong thing and everything that followed from that point forward is on them.
Say what you will, these cops should be charged with manslaughter. Period.

From what I've read, the police thought they were chasing down someone who'd broken some car windows. I appreciate that they wanted to apprehend the perpetrator, but it's troubling that they immediately resorted to lethal force for someone who'd engaged in petty vandalism.
