Gosh, I can't say that I like any of those covers but I really can't believe that John Cassaday Avengers one passed QC. It's horrendous!

Surely you'd want the FF to be in whatever new duds they've come up with for them on any other covers? Especially if it was for another character's title. Have FF#1 variants celebrating various stages in their history, maybe but this just seems really odd.

There you go, I'm officially old and don't understand Marvel anymore.

I like the Chris Sprouce cover. Although
at this point, I'd rather see some Sara
Pichelli artwork.

One of these days the FF will be done in a big blaze of glory...but, the preview art doesn't do anything for me!

I figure Marvel wouldn't do silly stuff like that if no one was buying them, but I really wish I could meet someone who does so I can ask them why...

(I actually ended up with an "Iron Man variant" of X-Factor a few years ago, but that was because my LCS got shorted, I couldn't find a copy of the regular cover anywhere and that was the only option left. I was kind of amused by the disclaimer they included on the back (IIRC) - "this is an exclusive Iron Man variant; Iron Man is not actually in the book". Something like that, anyway.)

I like a few of the images, but the thought of buying a comic I don't want for a Fantastic Four pin-up (with, presumably, someone else's logo) doesn't compute. Heck, buying a comic I DO want with an unrelated character on the cover doesn't work for me either.

Yep, putting unrelated characters on a variant cover is as much a sign of a dearth of creativity as some of those titles. X-Men Red? Genius. The Immortal Hulk? What a twist.

I do actually like the art for the X-Men Red cover, but it really does make no sense to put an FF pin-up on the cover of an X-Men comic.

To me, if you want to have the FF on every cover at least try to tie them into the characters inside the actual book too. (Even stranger to include the Life of Captain Marvel in the promotion - isn't it a mini-series?)

In this day and age where I can just download any image I like, I'm surprised at how successful these variant covers end up being. Granted, I don't have a collector/speculator brain.

I wonder how "successful" these variant covers actually are??

Does it really help Marvel's "bottom line" which should be keeping readership strong? Do those things even matter anymore??

So, they've released some of the variant covers for the actual FF #1 in August.  This one caught my eye for reasons that should be obvious.

That Perez piece is also being released as a poster, along with a re-issue of JBs FF poster.
I still have my original, but ordered the reprint from my LCS because John Byrne.

I love Slott. Spiderman was awesome, silver surfer was awesome. I cant think of a better writer other than Mr. Byrne to bring the ff back to glory. Cant wait for Ironman also.
