This was advertised to me on social media, and I thought it was pretty neat.

Wow!! Much better than the ol' wooden figures.
I must admit that I had used an articulated Black Costume Spider-Man for a while.

These are actually from a Japanese maker of action figures, Figma. Dunno if they are rebranding them in other markets or somesuch.

I just tried to maneuver my model into some of those positions.....uh, no.
That extra hinge below the shoulders would be key.

The best tool remains photographs and -- even more important -- learning to do it on your own!

"learning to do it on your own!"
Amen!
I'm not sure if those figures would be a whole lot of help if you can't actually draw; you wouldn't have extreme foreshortening with them, or anything but an adult male and what looks to me like a teenaged female. Maybe you could rig up some grids for help with background perspectives. They probably look more impressive in those photos of them than they really are... you could probably get an autocad wire-frame program to do more.
I hope I don't sound out of my league or preachy, but the best thing is for people who want to draw to draw, think about drawing, and try to figure out how people like John Byrne, Gil Kane, Joe Kubert, John Buscema or whoever go about constructing things with just a pencil and developed knowledge in the brain (stuff that used to be taught at art schools but has gotten harder to find). While looking for shortcut tools you could be missing crucial breakthrough observations after all, or just struggling frustratingly with something you want to do that isn't working but might on the next attempt.

Got one of those myself... It is nice, but yeah, some poses cannot be achieved.
