As I drift across the interweb, I occasionally find sad little characters who seem to be taking great pride in having been punted off the JBF. Talk about a need to Get A Life!!

What makes it particularly sad is that there is a consistent thread. Virtually all of them pull the "All I Did Was..." lament, and, along with those who respond, seem to utterly miss (or ignore) the fact that this is a cumulative effect. It takes real "talent" to get shown the door fresh out of the gate. The Mods and I put the potential troublemakers on a LONG leash. One really has to work at it to get the ol' heave-ho.

The tone on the forum is, mostly, very civil. Which is why it's one of the few forums I enjoy visiting on a regular basis. I'm glad people are expected to keep a certain standard here.

Some people come here to push the envelope and bait John Byrne, so if they get banned it is inevitable, not sure why they need to go elsewhere to complain about the ban.  Oh well, they do just need to "get a life". :)

I agree with the comments here so far.

Also worth considering: many of us, myself included, spend quite a bit time here. As does our host. Now, that will mean occasional disagreements. Brian Hague, who I do respect, is someone I had a disagreement or two with, but we chat fine now.

Maybe, like roommates, we'll fall out. People will if "in the company" of the same folk time after time. Even your best friend or favourite colleague will fall out with you. But I think we rise above it, we don't hold grudges, and things are civil for the most part.

Disagreements are handled in a civil manner and that makes the JBF a great place to spend time. The lack of anonymity is a huge factor, but I would also think that everyone that remains on the forum lacks the "petty" gene.

There is a Facebook page, Byrne Victims that I joined a few months ago. I recognise a lot of names on that group. A lot.

Some people looking for validation on long held beliefs.

It would seem their preference to going home empty handed, is to martyr their self at the alter of that belief.

Being banned from any forum doesn't prove that the forum was wrong, it suggests that you can follow forum rules.

What does this tell the wider internet spectatorship about you?

You can't follow rules and you like to whine about stuff.
-[thumbs up] Nice!

James, isn't the Byrne Victims FB page just a play on words? I believe it is just an art appreciation page, but I don't know for certain.

very little time looking at that group, despite being on
Facebook daily, maybe it`s because i get my fix here!

Eric, I think it is just a play on words but it is amazing how many people who used to be on here are on there.

term first coined in the letters pages of Next Men?
