Put me down as one who doesn't care when any JB series might take place. It's just a joy to see barnacle-free versions of these characters acting like themselves.

Jim Warden just texted me to check on something. Seemed he'd heard I have already turned down Marvel's offer.

Turned down something I haven't even received yet.

What was it Mark Twain said about the internet? ;-)

"Some of you are really determined not to GET it, aren't you?"

Somewhere in this thread I mentioned that something radical should be done in the comic to show that this isn't just a "What if Jean didn't die?" series. I mentioned it because I think there are far too many people that will try to play "gotcha" with where this fits into the Marvel timeline of yore.

A significant deviation from the known (besides Jean being alive which, let's face it, should be enough) may head off the endless comments of "Spider-Man should be in the black costume by now" or "Shouldn't the Thing still be on the Beyonder's planet?" I can only imagine, as the artist, how annoying that would be.

In any case, if this happens (and I feel like we may be up to a 51% chance it does), I'll just sit back and enjoy the ride.

Thing about this "series", is that it would be a lot like HIDDEN YEARS in structure -- in the sense that it will take place in the Past, but the Past as NOW. So even tho it's "really" 1980, the tropes will lean more toward 2019.

This will, of course, utterly confuse those who exist only to be utterly confused.

Along those lines, if the X-Men were to meet the FF, would it be 'your' FF from around '81 (e.g. Sue with short hair)?

I was asking more along the lines of that just being something fun to see, not as a continuity stickler - but perhaps it's a question best not answered.

It would be dangerous to cross my own timelines, Vinny!
