This is just the best!

JB, I think what you see as "weakest", I just see as "style".  Anyway, you're not being paid to be a critic, you're being paid to write and draw a comic...oh, wait...nevermind

The bottom of Cyclops boot is especially cool!

I don't buy enough comics these days to say this with a
lot of evidence, but the few X books I have been able to
see seems to boil down the combat to 1 or 2 panels and
fill the rest of the issues with characters standing
around talking.

They need to have more action sequences like this. I
think it would help the sales.

WOW!!!

This thread is becoming BETTER by the day!!!!

Again, I'm very inspired by the way JB pushes to improve from page to page!! Added X-TRA is seeing my favorite Uncanny X-Men team drawn by JB and in pencilled form... which I didn't see much of during the original run!

-C!

Christmas in July!
I lovelovelove this issue.

Thanks so much for posting this exercise JB, I'll speak for everyone here when I tell you this is everyone's dream come true. New X-men pages!

Something about the way you draw Cyclops' visor makes my brain happy. No wonder he was my favourite member.

Hm... looking at this now, I see where I misinterpreted her neck for hair... and many other goofs...

FAIL.

This has become my favorite new thread since JB started the "new Visions" thread a while back. Like that thread, I love how JB is apparently having some fun creating the new art, and his enthusiasm behind the work somehow makes the art that much more exciting to look at.

It's also fun to see how others interpret the pencils when they ink them. I admit, I am more a fan of the so-called "tracer" group of inkers, who follow the original lines and embellish without redrawing what is there. I am not singling out anyone in this thread, and I've stated in other threads that I feel someone of JB's caliber and experience probably knows what he's doing.

Once again, I go back to a former board member from years back who basically redrew everything in JB's pencils when the board was taking turns inking, coloring, and writing dialogue to an unpublished JB Fantastic Four story that JB sent to Marvel as a submission. In that instance, not only was it, quite frankly, some audacity to nearly fully redraw what JB had drawn, but he also changed the space outfits worn by the team so that his inked pages did not match the other pages the rest of us were working on. I recall we ended up using someone else's inks for those pages.

No, not Tom. Loved every line on HIDDEN YEARS, but it's the wrong look for this imaginary book.

I think Dan Green always did a nice job inking JB.
