just finished the JFK museum/ exhibit in Dallas. I’ve never really read much on JFK. Come to my rescue, JBF. What are some good books about him, his presidency and his assassination?

An Unfinished Life: John F. Kennedy, 1917-1963 (2003), by Robert Dallek.

That's all you'll ever need!

A Stephen King novel was really good - "11-22-63." It's an intriguing time travel story, with information about JFK and the era. I enjoyed it a lot - even as fiction and not reference.

Another speculative book is "If Kennedy Lived" by Jeff Greenfield. It covers the first and second terms of a presidency that went eight years.

And for fun in a variety of ways, I recommend the anthology "Alternate Kennedys." edited by Mike Resnick. The stories go literally from the sublime to the ridiculous, but I felt good that they presented real information in the fictional venue. (Mr. Resnick has done several "alternate" anthologies, including "Alternate Presidents" and "The Other Teddy Roosevelts", both of which I highly recommend.)

Good luck!

I highly recommend Berlin 1961:  Kennedy, Khrushchev, and the Most Dangerous Place on Earth, by Frederic Kempe.

Two fictional books about the assassination.
Stephen King's 11/22/63 is excellent. Interesting time-travel story.
The Third Bullet by Stephen Hunter - This is not a traditional conspiracy theory story. The book takes Hunter's Vietnam sniper character Bob Lee Swagger and puts his sniper expertise to the test in trying to figure out if Oswald acted alone.

Reclaiming History is the book to read on the assassination. Without a doubt. Such a detailed look at everything that happened. Great read about a terrible event.
