Hey pals,

I've recently been researching about Mr. Byrne since I am pretty new to his comics and I wanted to know more because I really liked what I saw so far.
But there is one point I am not sure about.
I found an article about his comics (or at least some of them) being quite misogynous and I don't know how to feel about that.
That article being quite new I am not sure if that matter has ever been discussed before.
This is the article in question:

Do you think they overreact? Does it have a point?
I don't really think that it is appropriate. Feels more like that overdone type of feminism that we are oftenly confronted nowadays, given the fact that these comics are already about 10 years old.
Thoughts?

"THIS IS NOT GENE RODDENBERRY’S STAR TREK."

••

This is less an attack on me than it is a continuation of the process of deifying Roddenberry.

Do you think that people should do new Star Trek-related content that is somehow more detached from Roddenberry's ideas?
Just out of interest because most of the Star Trek fans are also very sensitive when it comes to ideas that deviate from Roddenberry's approaches.
If so I would be interested in how you think Star Trek should be developed further nowadays.
Personally I am very openminded for new ideas but I think it should not be something completely different.

My work answers that question.

To this writer "misogyny" evidently means "failing to make your female characters wonderful enough".

I am about to buy some of your Star Trek related work because I got really curious now!
But what do you think? How would you like to see the Star Trek universe develop itself now and in the future?
I think it is important that influental artists like you contribute to an already existing fandom/franchise like Star Trek because this helps to make progress and keeps it alive.
It would be quite inspiring to read about the aspects that would be important for you concerning the further development of Star Trek and also what aspects where important to you when you wrote the story for the comics about the Romulans.

Sorry for my ignorance, but why do the author links on the page mentioned only lead back to it's self?  Also is it about Star Trek, or Sexism, or only issues the author has with Mr. Byrne?

Some people have too much time and need to learn about projecting onto things, and people (and also other times) they don't actually know.

A very short post from me for once. :^)

English is not my native tongue and sometimes I might miss  some nuances, but isn't this person confusing "misogynist" with "sexist"?

For me, that story is just rolling with the Roman Empire motif of the Romulans and riffing on historical figures like Clodia. It’s a huge stretch to accuse it of being sexist.

I really disliked how the Vulcan and Romulan women became androgynous with bowl cuts in TNG and the later series.
