I'm sure IDW could use the cash flow, but
this is just sad.

Maybe JB might get to scratch an itch
without having to work for Marvel.

You guys do realize that this is the
beginning of the end, right?

“From Iron Man to Captain Marvel, from the Hulk to Shuri —"

"Launching in November 2018, the Marvel and IDW collaboration will kick off with a Spider-Man series featuring both Peter Parker and Miles Morales,"

The first things they do include characters that are tied to confusing continuity and have to be explained?  And THAT's how to bring in new readers?!

Why is this the beginning of the end?

Not sure I understand why Marvel farms books out to IDW.
They've been doing it with a Star Wars comic for about a
year already.

I mentioned this in the "Pencil Practice" thread yesterday. The impression I get
is by "all ages" they mean "kiddy" stories instead of layered fare that appeals
to children and adults.

Oh, and I agree with Eric's sentiments about including Miles Morales.

Marvel is probably preparing for a day when they cease their publishing operations and license their characters instead.

And in a weird sort of way, Marvel was already doing this years ago when they hired Quesada's company to do the Marvel Knights books. And then the licensee was hired as the EIC, creating the Marvel-not-Marvel of today.

Not sure what you mean by the beginning of the end.  Comics have been sliding downward for decades now.  The end was probably a combination of the DSM and the lack of vision in the leadership of the publishers.

Back in 2008 Marvel did a few co-productions with Dynamite.

I don't recall another Comic company producing a comic with only Marvel characters with that company's name on the cover before.

I'm not sure which character I despise more--Miles Morales or Bucky Barnes.

I'm guessing that Alex Ross had a contract with Dynamite then, so if he was involved then Dynamite had to be involved.

I'm still bothered when I see Cap's chainmail on top of his shirt instead of
under it as it was drawn for so many years.
