The Three Lieutenant Marvels did not appear under their own flag in any series that I know of. They were always supporting characters in stories starring other members of the Marvel Family. You are correct, Robbie, that they had lesser powers than the good Captain himself since they had one dose of his might divided amongst the three of them.

Uncle Marvel, similarly, was a supporting character in Mary Marvel stories, in which he was a flim-flam man turned loveable old fraud. He had no powers at all and explained his lack of them in crucial moments as it being his ol' "Shazambago" acting up again*.

As for Cap, Mary, and Freddy, the special tone and approach towards each of the characters did render each their own validity and a reason to exist, independent of the others. But none were so drastically different that they couldn't operate together.

* Of course, he shouldn't have been able to say, "Shazambago" without changing, but no one ever called him it, apparently.
