They haven't really defined the range of her powers, other than she can fly and blow the shit out of stuff with her energy blasts.

Still, in the face of The Infinity Gauntlet, she'd still be completely insignificant. One on one with regular Thanos ... maybe partnered with Thor ... that's a different story :)

Why does her power level mater? She can do what she can do. Is it really important to know if she's stronger than the Hulk, faster than Thor, or more explosively blasting than Iron Man?

YMMV, but I just watch the movies to see what they can do, per the director. Maybe the closest I got to this was Age of Ultron when Steve moved Mjolnir the slightest bit (and the absolutely splendid look on Thor's face!)

It takes me out of the movie to wonder about how strong, how fast, how energetic a character is. (And it's even MORE distracting, if I let it, because I know this character for forty-odd years... I have to prevent myself from comparing Ms. Marvel, Binary, Warbird, and Captain Marvel!)

I think people are curious as to why Fury summoned her now - with no real knowledge of what was going on- instead of in the past. We, as moviegoers, know why - it's all part of the hype machine and money - but in story, what makes her crucial? What's her edge?

I'm guessing they never address it or it'll possibly be something huge during the coming conflict.

I thought this was sufficiently answered in CAPTAIN MARVEL. She was across the galaxy dealing with other stuff. Whos to say Fury hadnt tried summoning her before? The world-ending events in the previous Avengers movies occurred over the course of a day or two. Based on the tidbits weve seen, it took Carol a lot longer to respond to the page.

Id be amused by a bonus feature on the CAPTAIN MARVEL Blu-Ray showing a montage of all the times Fury had tried summoning Carol only for her to arrive after everything was over.

I believe that Steve COULD lift the hammer at that moment.  Why would Mjolnir move "just a little" for anyone if they aren't worthy?  Is there a such thing as being 'slightly worthy'?

Steve realized he was about to hoist that thing in the air and he stopped so he wouldn't show up his friend.

Steve is worthy...and Thor knows it.  Which is why the God of Thunder follows him into battle.

David - surely possible. Steve Rogers is one of those who has wielded Mjolnir in the comics, so it might be Cap's worthiness in that he knew he could lift it - and DIDN'T. Why show up a god?

Far too many people have lifted Mjolnir. If I had my druthers, the list would begin and end with Thor. If I had to choose two more people... Odin? Okay. Cap? Okay. I think that's about it.

As much as I enjoyed the Beta Ray Bill story as a kid, the fact that he was able to wield the hammer still bothered me.

Oh, I certainly don't think Vision should have been able to lift Mjolnir.

Heh. I'll most likely agree with you when I finally see it on Sunday.

I'm absolutely with you on that point, Wallace!

To each their own. It takes 'you' out of the movie.
But many have a ton of fun growing up talking about
power levels. Who can beat who, can Wolverines claws
cut X, and so on.

I could only go on things I have seen here and there,
but really have no idea how powerful she is. The way
they have been building her up I was assuming she was
going to save the day because she is at Superman
level.

Are you seriously worried that a film franchise a decade in the making, one that has taken great pains in establishing itself as well as the world it inhibits, is going to shove in a character at the last moment to solve all the problems of a single film?  Seriously?  You think ENDGAME is going to be about Captain Marvel swooping in to single-handedly save the day? THAT'S what you've gleaned from the trailers?  That Marvel would shit on the characters that carried them to INFINITY WAR only to tie it up with a lame-ass denouement where a single savior comes in to wrap it all up? Really?

Wow. You haven't been watching Marvel films if that's your take away.
