The first version is my slow and methodical approach, the second is me trying to work looser.

Nice work, Mark! I like both, but prefer the first version. I am a fan of tight, clean, inking.

Very nice, Mark! With my previous pages I did the same - the first page was very tight inks and the second a bit looser. I think it's a good idea to experiment with inking to find out what works best.

I prefer the first one also in this context. The style of inking in the second one really reminds me of Giordano over Adams. Though Adams/Giordano were great, it feels so DC to me that I don't think it suits Thor. The first seems both more Marvel and JB (if that makes any sense).

I get what you mean, Peter. The first has more a Terry Austin style on the inks. Interestingly,  Austin was Giordano's assistant at one time

I agree with you both as well. It was fun to try out a looser style, inspired by JB’s Neal Adams shading, but in the end the tighter inks suit the work better.

I prefer the second one for the same reason Peter doesn’t.  Adams/Giordano is my all time favorite.

It’s funny, I was trying for Sienkewicz or Janson in my looser style, but I totally see how it came out with a Giordano feel.

The fact that it’s even slightly being compared this way is so nice! I still have a looong way to go!

I can definitely see a Sienkiewicz influence in that second one.
Hopefully, I'll have one up soon!

Initially posted an inked page but was unhappy with the way I spliced it together. With my printer and scanner I have to print and ink half a page and then scan and splice it back together. I have to go back and fix it so it looks a bit more seamless. Anyone else have that issue?
