Geoffrey, I watched the video that you (almost) provided a link to.
Ocasio-Cortez may or not be capable of basic research (it's difficult to definitely say, given that her comments aren't completely in context as presented), but I would say the presenter is definitively incapable of basic research.
A corporate tax rate of 35% was not the highest in the entire world. It wasn't even second, or third, or fourth (it would have been joint fifth with at least 10 other countries).
Nor is US unemployment at its lowest in history, as the presenter claims. US unemployment was (prior to December, it has since ticked up) holding at a 49-year low of 3.7%. For a few years in the 1940s, though, US unemployment was below 2%.
"Just says a bunch of things and hopes [people not well versed in the subject] will take her words at face value." Hoisted by his own petard. Or did I miss the bit where he provides evidence that a carbon tax will fail to change consumer behaviour and that it is just a cash grab? Oh, that's right, he didn't provide any evidence; it's just that he says so. Guess that's all right then.
