Derek, I totally agree that the Magneto splash page is one of the best cliffhangers ever.  It took me almost ten years to see how that story ended.

What I also loved about X-Men 111 (apart from the Magneto cliffhanger) was that the story just started. The Beast was already investigating where the X-Men had gone. There was no build up we were just thrown in to the story.

Ahh - me too, Jim ! ( though at 20 I was a few years older than you )

The original CRISIS remains one of my favourite maxi ( mini ? ) series of the '80s, mainly for George's wonderful art, and the sheer number of different DC characters it crammed into it's pages.

With the benefit of hindsight, the story is ... well ... not great, and at times seems to be almost making things up as it goes along, but I still find it an entertaining read even today. That may be as much a fondness for that time of my life as it is for the series though !

Of course, the lack of any coherent plan at DC for what followed CRISIS is a whole other story ....

Lots of ooh's and ahh's represented here, great stuff. Haven't seen some of these in a long while. Maybe it's time to revisit them again.

I didn't expect Hulk 319 to end like this... and I was INCREDIBLY curious to find out what "Honeymoon's Over" meant...

...imagine my face when I saw the next issue...

I almost posted HULK 319 myself, Nathan. For me, the splash alone didn't leave me breathlessly awaiting the next issue, it was the breakneck pace and unpredictability of the series since JB took over that left me wanting more.

The next issue also left me with a bad feeling of Abyrnedonment.
