Finally getting to read this. Got to issue 2 & noticed Tu’penny Green airfield.
I know you were born in Walsall and initially raised in West Bromwich & East Bromwich made it in to Hellboy, & I know you moved away from the area when you were pretty young, but, was Tu’Penny Green a reference to Half Penny Green (or Ha’Penny Green as it is known locally) airfield that is not too many miles from West Bromwich?

Let’s put it this way: my mother was stationed at Ha’penny Green during WW2. We visited the base (then derelict) in 1965.

I'm quite fond of it, too! The art is ridiculous. No one should be that good!

Thanks for the reply. I love finding these little references. It’s now an operational airfield again with light aircraft & helicopters flying from it.
Excellent book by the way, I ended up reading issues 2 to 4 in one sitting.

COLD WAR is fantastic. Once I found this after coming back to comics I sure did crave the other two potential arcs! Just thankful for The Damocles Contract JB, great stuff.

Cold War was great. Of Byrne's later work, Cold War, Doomsday.1, and High Ways, are among my favorites.
