Plans for Wolverine to Join Alpha Flight

Not sure where this notion comes from—the guy even thanks me!—but this was never officially “planned”.

That really is getting the wrong end of everything in that article.

I can't get over the idea that Marvel would have launched an Alpha Flight title without JB. What would be the point?

What about the quotes from Amazing Heroes #22, JB? He obviously based the article on that but was the original quote taken out of context or more of a hypothetical?

When ALPHA FLIGHT was launched there was plenty of fan speculation that Wolverine would be leaving the X-Men and "returning" to the group, since he was a "founding member". But speculation--even on my part--was all it ever was. I had no access to Wolverine, except to sneak him in for an occasional guest appearance.

Can anyone really imagine Chris letting go of the Golden Goose?

I can easily imagine that. Wolverine ended up being a member of every super team, didn't he? I understand that DC was going to relaunch the Inferior Five just so Wolverine could join. :) :) :)

Where he ended up is a far cry from where he was at the time though, right? It is difficult to imagine the most popular character of the time departing from the very book that got him to the top of the pile.

It would have made sense, but I can't see the X-office ever letting go of Wolverine.

These types of articles bring down the credibility of the entire website.  Strange stuff.

Just started my re-read of AF two nights ago. I think it was more of an in-story development rather than any kind of a production plan. Mac even says he intended Logan to lead the team. But I never thought for a minute that he was ever actually meant to be in the book.

Was Wolverine ever a member of Alpha Flight (other than what may have been retconned later in flashback issues)? I always read it that Wolverine was an agent of Department H working for Hudson but left before AF was formed.

I think Mac was in the process of putting the team together and intended Wolverine to lead it. Then, Wolverine left.
