I went in with considerable reservations, but I must say the first episode captured the tone of the movie very well. I’ll come back for another taste next week.

On the DVR.  Will be watching it after a couple more episodes stack up.

Continuing to be amusing. Colin Robertson's "romance" was fun. Also nice to see Vanessa Bayer, who I have come to appreciate since "discovering" her in OFFICE CHRISTMAS PARTY.

One of my gal pals told me the other day that her workplace has been abuzz with enthusiastic talk about this series. Most people there were unaware of the movie.

Watched the first episode last night. I agree that the show does a great job of capturing the tone of the movie. The psychic vampire joke cracked me up too.

It's one of the few shows I stay caught up on. The episodes go by too quick!

Continuing to be darkly hilarious, last night’s “Citizenship” brought memories of my own “transition” from Canadian to American. Nandor’s quest to become an American citizen paralleled neatly with recently turned Jenna learning to appreciate her new vampiric state.

was lucky enough to latch onto this.
Very funny. Its almost too much humor, so much its almost lost until you think back onto it. They are now reaching past the movie and its good stuff.

The Grand Vamp night out was classic. The Vagina bush garden. Drug Blood. The concepts alone are worth it.

Some great guest starts in the previous 'trial' episode. Must have been a blast for those guest spots!

I'm going to have to check this out. Just watched the trailer and they had me at Mark Proksch's involvement (look up "K-Strass" on Youtube to see some of his previous work).

Plus I've read that the show is filmed on Staten Island - always interesting to see the more obscure parts of NYC represented.

It’s SET on Staten Island. The credits lead me to suspect it’s filmed in Toronto.

Yep, it was shot last year from October to December in Toronto.

D'oh, I stand corrected. But it amuses me even more that they intentionally chose to set it there.

Yes of course.
When you will conquer the planet, would you not always start on Staten Island ?

"Bat Shame" ... LOL

Getting caught up on the series and am loving it.  It's got the same sensibility as the movie (no easy task) while being its own thing.  Matt Berry is hilarious as "Laszlo", but I expect nothing less after his turn on THE IT CROWD.  Kayvan Novak as "Nandor" is a comedic discovery for me.  Never heard of him before, but he consistently cracks me up.  I also love the addition of an "energy vampire" in the form of "Colin Robinson".  A brilliant twist on a character most of us have actually encountered in our day to day lives.

Here's hoping the series does well enough for a second season.  Based on what I've seen so far, it certainly deserves it!

Matt - the series has been renewed already.

(I haven't started on it yet, but I'm looking forward to it.)

Still catching up. Just watched the "Trial" episode last night and that's the best one so far. I replayed the scene of Lazlo squirming from the prisoner's anger several times, making me laugh out loud each time. It's subtle but executed perfectly. Loved the cameos.
