I loved the way Al Milgrom inked Bynre. Many people I know dislike his work but I enjoyed most of it.

My problems with Al's work back in the day were based on my tastes in art only.  I can say now, that I like a good number of covers that he did and also loved his Marvel Fanfare series.

Brian, thanks for sharing that story. I would have been mortified had I done that. Al was never a favorite inker of mine, but I prefer him on inks to pencils.

I haven't met many pros to be honest. Even at conventions I just wasn't the type to come up and introduce myself or say hi. But I do recall MANY years ago showing my work to Archie Goodwin. I was no where near ready to be a comic book artist but just the way he gave me hope while at the same time letting me know I wasn't ready - well I walked away feeling good about myself. Other pros are super helpful, but no one rejected me or let me down as easily and politely as Archie Goodwin.

Jason Scott, my main memory of the fire alarm idiot, was
it being set of in the day too, and standing outside
with Walter Koenig and the guy who wore the Kosh
costume! We got Mr Katsulas`s autograph after my wife
recognised him sitting behind us whilst waiting for a
talk to start...she recognised his voice! I think that
may have been the same con where Claudia Christian was
stressing JMS out with negotiations with Warner Bros as
to wether to stay or leave B5? I also remember Mira
Furlan calling out a trader selling a fake autographed
photo of her!

I didn't love everything Al Milgrom did, but there were a few things I liked quit a bit. He did some solid covers for THE INCREDIBLE HULK during the Sal Buscema interior pencils era.
His inks over Steve Rude in THE INCREDIBLE HULK vs. SUPERMAN are very good. It's a beautiful book.
I haven't gotten a chance to meet him, but it would be nice to do so and have him sign some things.

I've been lucky enough to meet a few of my favorite comic artists (and writers). Hard to say who the friendliest was, as they were all fairly cordial.

I got to meet Herb Trimpe, he was quite friendly and open. It may stick out in my mind more because he died less than a year later.

Not sure where the bad JB stories are from, as he seemed nice enough in Boston last year.

As far as guys I've rubbed shoulders with, I'd say Marc Silvestri, with the late Michael Turner a close second. They were both more than generous with their time on numerous occasions and we had some real laughs. And Turner was a pretty slick with a pool cue. Took me three out of four.

Al Milgrom can imitate Steve Ditko's inking style better than anyone else in the biz.
