Did anybody take in the special showing of this new Deep Space Nine documentary last night? I really loved it, despite some technical glitches in the theater that ruined most of the first 10 minutes.

It was very emotional and also very funny. It's definitely a celebration of the show, a love letter....I don't know how good a job it would necessarily do at selling the series to people who have never tried it or who haven't yet been won over by it. But the interviews are great (with one notable and slightly depressing exception of a notable recurring actor I won't name but who kind of comes off as a creep and a borderline asshole at times, in my opinion).

There's a recurring thread where many of the show's key writers gather together to break the story for a hypothetical season 8 premiere, 20 years after the original show ended. I can just say that it was so exciting that it almost hurts that it will likely never come to pass.

I will see it when it gets a digital release.   Heard great things about it.  DS9 has such a rich history of great stories and changed the way a weekly show could do arcs long multi part season long arcs.  Like many I was won over by it years after its conclusion.

Tyler do you have any info on the digital release?

I'm afraid I don't know, John.

I know there was a limited duration streaming release for the fans who helped crowdfund it (I wasn't one of them) prior to the screening last night, but I don't think there are official dates yet for either the physical media release or the digital one.

Caught it last night.  Was great fun.  Nothing new to me, since I've been a DS9 obsessive for a long time and the Companion book is really authoritative, but the 4K converted footage looked amazing and it's nice to see the cast reflect on it from this greater vantage point.  The bit where the writers break the premier episode of a (sadly) imaginary seasons eight was excellent.  My crowd all agreed that we would SO watch it...

And might I guess that the nameless actor is Marc Alaimo?

Yes, I was indeed talking about Alaimo.

However, I've been encouraged by a few other people in other conversations about the documentary to give Alaimo the benefit of the doubt, that he may have just been trying to be playful in a way that didn't necessarily come off well on-screen. So, I want to do that.

I went to the screening last night (and I was one of the contributors to the Indigogo campaign) and enjoyed it. The theater wasn't exactly packed but it was nice to see a Trek documentary playing on the big screen and based on their reactions, the crowd seemed to like it.

The HD footage looked excellent and the film even managed to stoke a few emotions in me, so I'd call it a  win ;)

Is Avery Brooks in the documentary? I recall hearing while it was being filmed that he was the only cast holdout who did not want to be interviewed.

There's reused footage of him from (I believe) the Captains documentary.
