JB, you have mentioned on a few occasions when describing your process as (paraphrasing) envisioning what you want to draw and then projecting it onto the page so you can essentially trace it with your pencil. I have also seen you mention when something "falls out of your pencil" as a way of indicating when things are just clicking. I know there is a great deal more going on when your drawing, but these descriptions seem like great shorthand ways of explaining your process. I don't know that I have ever heard anyone else describe their way of working like this.

Last year I was introduced to the work of Korean artist Kim Jung Gi from another comic artist. Watching him work I can't help but think of the ways you describe your process and wondered if you were familiar with his art. Have you seen his work before and what do you think?

No need to give a personal opinion of his art work.

Have you seen any videos of him working before? When I watch his videos it appears to me that he is envisioning and projecting the image onto the page then drawing the image and that made me think of what you had said about your own work.

The randomness of where he hops to draw reminds me of old CAD pen plotters.

I don't know if I should be inspired - or put away my pencil and sketchbook forever.... hard to believe the proportions and perspective on all his drawings are SPOT ON no matter what!!! WOW.

I smell a blue light projection. Maybe I am too cynical.

Not an artist so I don't know anything. If this was traced using a projector, wouldn't there be some indication on the video? Or is a blue-light projector invisible to video and if it was, wouldn't there be some glare? Or is something else going on?

I have heard and followed his work for a while. He is
extremely talented. There are very few lines
preparation, and he is super fast. One of his script
writer, Jean-David Morvan, reported on one of their
projects that he was truly amazed at the unbelievable
capacity to finished a completely inked comics book page
in around 90 minutes, from scratch, with minimum drawing
construction for composition and such.
