That's very good to hear. I did not appreciate Byrne/Sinnott when those issues first came out, despite being a huge fan of Mr. Sinnott. Today, I love the classic look he gave your initial work on the comicbook.

JB, with your journey from comic book reader to creator was working with Joe Sinnott the first time a mind blowing experience? I have to imagine that getting to see his inks on your FF pencils must have been a career milestone of sorts.

Of the six examples, the differences in how each artist handled the hair alone is lesson worth a look.

I would say that Sinnott is prime example of staying on model.  That is not an insult or backhanded compliment.  I still see the penciller, but Sinnott brings a consistency.

Along with Romita and the Buscemas, he was Marvel to me in the 70s.

I love Sinnott, but I think that might be partially due to his style being ingrained in my head as the way Reed "should" look after reading the Kirby FF issues so much.

100 issues goes a long way to set and reinforce a standard.

I cobbled this together via the basic paint program...

JB’s style also changed a lot between issues 216 and 279. Just pointing out there’s more going on here than an inker’s line...

And Ordway's faces seemed to me, when I was reading, to
*always* have it. Kind of like how Layton makes
*everything* (hyperbole, I know) "glossy". It gets
grating after awhile.

JB knowing who was doing the inking may also impact the pencils, and it turn, the inked results.

My favorite part of this is how that is clearly Mr. Fantastic in each headshot.

The Al Gordon version is an odd one. His inks when he became regular inker later on in the run seem more in line with some of the other versions shown. For example:

I don't think I ever noticed until now what I tiny nose Reed had!

Looking further at this, the Pablo Marcos inks have somewhat of a BWS vibe.
