On a single issue I enjoyed seeing George Perez's inks, but I wouldn't want a steady diet of it.

I also enjoyed Tom Palmer for The Hidden Years, mainly because it gave it the feel of continuity from the Adams/Palmer art from the classic stories.  But as with Joe Sinnott and Klaus Janson, I think I'd rather see him inking someone else.

Other than JB himself - Austin, Ordway and Rubinstein.

I loved those Nefaria issues, and I never had any problem with Marcos' inks there or on Perez's work.  He always did a strong and professional job, but (putting on the editor's cap) I'd be hard-pressed to find the right penciler to assign him to.  (Well, he sort of overpowered people, so I guess I would assign him to "fix" a weaker penciler or newer artist who didn't quite know the ropes yet.)

For several years thru the Seventies this was close to policy at Marvel. Put strong inkers on weak pencils, weak inkers on strong pencils. The idea was to create a "consistent" look across the line.

I would have loved to have seen what Wally Wood's inks would have looked like on some of the artists who came to prominence after he left the industry.  (such as his work with Jose Luis Garcia-Lopez in Hercules Unbound and Frank Miller for a Daredevil cover)

I feel like Joe Rubenstein's work is the embodiment of this. IMO, his inks have an averaging effect to them. He can turn a penciller that rates a 3 into a 7....but he also turns pencillers that are 10s into 7s as well. (yourself and Perez being examples of the latter).

Speaking of Rubinstein, did Brett Breeding ever ink JB? I can’t think of anywhere that happened.

I don't think Brett Breeding ever inked JB. He was paired with Ron Frenz for a lot of work and I can't really think of any other penciler that he worked with extensively.

Breeding did a lot of work on the SUPERMAN titles in the late '80s and 1990s but I can't remember who he inked other than Kerry Gammill.

Dan Jurgens, Tom Grummett and Paul Ryan.

I liked that West Coast Avengers mini he did with Bob Hall pencilling and  he inked the 200th issue of JLA over Perez.
