This week, I picked up:
Cons de Fee: Erotic Art of Wallace Wood
Legends of the Dark Knight- Michael Golden
The High Cost of Dying and other stories by Reed Crandall (EC Comics collection)
Looking forward to diving into them.
I've read some of Wood's adult/porn comics but many in this collection will be new to me. Word is this collection covers ALL of his adult/porn work from the mid-60's (Wood at the peak of his abilities) through his final work in the very early '80's (when he was very ill & others did the lion's share of the work).
I missed this Reed Crandall book when it came out a while back and really like these Fantagraphics reprints that focus on individual artists. Glad to have found a copy! I think his work at EC is his best stuff- and he had a lot of nice stuff!
I sold much of my collection years ago so I haven't looked at Michael Golden's 70's Batman in quite a few years. Hopefully the reproductions and colors do it justice- hopefully my memory of how good this work is holds up and I haven't exaggerated it too much in my head. Looking forward to Batman's team up with Ragman- I remember the chills I felt as a kid when Golden had Ragman step out of the shadows for dramatic effect at the end of the story. Super moody- and creepy in a good way!
