The first couple of episodes were fairly predictable, even down to where I would say the lines before the actors could get them out. The later episodes did a decent job keeping me on my toes.
Couple of small items; I did like how they kept the heroes in their uniforms no matter the situation (other than Starlight) .
Simon Pegg's American accent was killing me!

I was a fan of the comic and have to say the show works for me despite all of its changes from the source material. I'm four episodes in and digging it. But yes, Doug, I can't decide which is worse, Simon Pegg's American accent or Karl Urban's British one. Simon Pegg has done an American accent before and it's always terrible. He can however do a pretty damn good Scottish one. Other than the bad accents though the casting for the show is just about pitch perfect, especially the Homelander who seems to have leapt straight out of the comic onto the screen.

I've never read the comic but I'm 4 episodes in and pleasantly surprised. It's a very well done superhero satire with great production values, if you like this sort of thing I'd recommend it.

Curious to see more of Black Noir (the show's Batman analogue) and what he might be like...

Just finished the season.  Really enjoyed it.  I thought the casting was inspired and the performances were universally terrific.  I know nothing of this story having never read the comics, but I found it to have heart in a way that much of Ennis' work does not.  I found myself pulling for the main love story as well as the rag-tag group of what are essentially resistance fighters with a grudge.

Looking forward to Season 2.

I enjoyed it, though it strays a fair bit from the source material--particularly in the last couple of episodes (unless I'm remembering the book all wrong).

This is one of the rare instances where the adaptation is better than the source material. The changes all worked for me and they really fleshed out a lot of very one dimensional characters from the comics.
