Disney has opened an exhibit of Jack Kirby's Eternals
today at Disney's Hollywood Studios.

I can't wait! I'll be there in a couple of weeks.

A nice display, but, typical of Disney, happening only because they have an ETERNALS series in the works.

Now, if only this could have celebrated ALL of Kirby’s work at Marvel...

(And a f*****g SLABBED comic right in the middle! “Super protected”. GAAAAAAHHHH!!!!)

(I wonder if they had someone authenticate that autograph, to be sure they were copying one by Jack, and not by Roz.)

That slabbed comic is not from one of the major grading companies. It has no label on it. It looks like one of the cases sold to fans which can be opened and reopened easily.

I have a BATMAN comic from Dick Sprang’s own collection hanging on my studio wall in one of those. Only way I could ever justify such a thing.

Heh.... one of the first things I saw was a typo:

"Jack Kirby was the creative mind behind the Eternals (1976). A Disney
Legend, Kirby began his career *as* a cartoonist..."

To think I bought almost the entire run when I was in grad school for a dime each! Eternals wasn't his most original idea, nor Kirby's best, but it's a heck of a ride!

I understand that they have Jack himself visiting Walt. You can go see it, but you have to wear a really warm parka...

The crazy thing was, Marvel tried to fold the Eternals into the MU, while DC spent years basically ignoring Kirby’s Fourth World.

The MU was already crowded enough without the Eternals, Deviants, Celestials...

Although I admit I like having the Celestials in mainstream Marvel. But ONLY the Celestials. And even then they're amongst Marvel's surplus of god-level cosmic characters. Everybody from the Living Tribunal to Eternity.

Strangely, DC doesn't have that many big cosmic science-fiction characters. Mostly magical ones (the Spectre, the Lords of Order and Chaos, etc.).

That's nice. I always liked the Eternals.
The carpet in those Disney buildings kills me, though.

Adam S. - Oh, DC had their cosmic characters of a non-magical state. But you know them as Superman, Green Lantern, Mon-El, etc. DC put 'em in the books as main characters.

Or as villains... Darkseid, the Sun Eater, Mordru*, "I" (Justice League villain), the Impossibles, etc.  They're there, but a little different in context, and in a different era.

*Okay, okay, I put in one magical character. Sue me.
