Darren, I very much liked your list of characters with Mego action figures! I was going to point out that Koenig and the Space: 1999 line weren't produced by Mego, but rather Mattel. As it turns out, looking into it, Mego DID produce 1999 figures, but only released them in Britain through Palitoy. I did not know that. The rest of us received far less posable figures from Mattel with slip-on shoes and stun guns. I have a nostalgic affection for the Mattel line, with it's inclusion of Prof. Bergman and Dr. Russell, but I must admit I'm dying to see the Palitoy versions.
Not a knock, but if you'd mentioned the Planet of the Apes or Conan, I might have gotten that one. Then again, maybe not. I am terrible at this. :-)

That's part of the answer - any guesses as to the rest of it?

They all had space pets/sidekicks? Itty, Zook, Koko, Proty (I and II) and Cryll, respectively.
(And based on my vague recollection of the few Space Ranger stories I've read, I really think Cryll got a raw deal. He does all the work and that Space Ranger weenie swoops in and steals all the credit...)

Brian, wow I had forgotten about the PotA figures and we never got Conan in the UK (well, not where I lived at least).
Sidebar: I loved the Mego figures as a kid, played the hell out of those things. I was 8 and in hospital with a broken leg and I pestered my mum to go to our nearest large toy shop to try and get these dolls I'd seen advertised ( in a US comic mind you), and behold Superman, Batman and Robin appeared! I didn't know about the Palitoy/Mattel thing you mentioned so that warrants further research.

Brian Miller - yes, you got those two of mine right. (And thanks for doing so before I had to come up with a witty yet evasive answer to "Which Goliath?" :-) )

Since 2.5 of mine have been solved, time for a new list:
#1 Hawkman, Falcon, Black Widow, Iron Fist and Captain Britain
#2 Firestar, Harley Quinn, Jimmy Olsen (sort of) and (almost) Black Manta
#3 Dove (Dawn), Starman (Will), Hal Jordan, Wasp (Jan), Firestorm (Ronnie)

Firestar, Harley Quinn, Jimmy Olsen (sort of) and (almost) Black Manta----------------------------- I suspect this is to do with first appearing in non-comics media,. Firestar first appeared in Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends, Harley Quinn in Batman: TAS, Jimmy Olsen was first named in the Superman radio show. Don't know about Black Manta though... Appeared in the Superman-Aquaman Hour of Adventure around about the same time as his comics debut?

Yep!
Oddly enough, both the cartoon (which started in Sept 67) and his first comics appearance (dated Sept 67, so it would have come out before that) treated Black Manta as an established adversary.

Dave, are they characters who did not debut in Showcase, but nevertheless received trial runs there?
Also, you are correct about the heroes palling around with space creature sidekicks!
