What do the comic books Dial H-For-Hero (the original), The Amazing Spider-Man, The Incredible Hulk and Superman all have in common? (It is not that they are all about male superheroes.)

And similarly...

What do the original Defenders, the Fantastic Four, the Inhumans, the original X-Men and Alpha Flight (after Guardian's death) all have in common? (It is not that they are superhero teams or that they are all published by Marvel.)

"al" somewhere in their names. Cal, Gal, Hal, Kal, Mal, Nal, Ral and Val. (And yes, I did have to look up Chlorophyll Kid's name.)

Mon-El, Superboy, Pete Ross, Supergirl, Lana Lang, and Jimmy Olsen

HINT: They are all members (one way or another) of the Legion of Super-Heroes; that's part of the answer, but it is NOT the link I'm thinking of.

LSH members from the 20th century?

I'm kicking myself. I knew that about Elizabeth Shepherd and Eric Stoltz, but I didn't put it together. I knew nothing about Bodie or the Professionals so when I looked them up and read about the casting change, I still didn't make the connection. Ah, well...

Currently, Wallace's questions have me stumped.

Dave P. - get out of my head! You hit 'em both right. With the Legionnaires... close enough. I was looking for the oldest Legionnaires (by date of birth related to the current Legion timeframe.)

Okay, maybe a couple more as soon as I can confound Dave P.! :)

Mr. Byrne - Bruce Wayne, Scott Summers, Boston Brand, Tony (Anthony) Gordon.

Maybe characters who had incredibly high level of super powers?

Batman has had Kryptonian-like powers (e.g., World's Finest #87 - "The Reversed Heroes!", where Batman took a pill created by Jor-El that gave him super powers.)

Scott Summers received Phoenix powers at the climax of Avengers vs X-Men

Boston Brand has possessed Superman more than once.

Tony Gordon in a Batgirl storyline about the Sino-Supermen... Chinese based espionage that duplicated super powers in outfits, which showed both super and marked his first post-Golden Age appearance.

How close did I get?

Sorry, Eric. Nowhere near. All four have been revealed to have siblings we didn’t know about.

For Bruce Wayne, Thomas Wayne Jr, who coincidentally became a host for Boston Brand, who’d earlier been shown to have a twin brother, Cleveland. Scott Summers, of course, revealed the existence of Alex to his team mates, and Tony Gordon one day had a younger sister named Barbara (until the timeline got messed up).

The only thing that comes to mind is that Jim Mooney worked on them (although that's a bit of stretch when it comes to the Hulk).

How original are we talking about with the Defenders? The one thing that comes to mind for this crew is that all of them had at least one red-headed member - Hellcat for the Defenders, Crystal & Medusa for the FF and Inhumans, Marvel Girl for the X-Men and Heather Hudson for Alpha Flight (after Guardian's death).
