The calls are becoming louder for the impeachment process to begin.

That raging idiot is but the tip of the iceberg.

If you want to ram the ship of state into that iceberg, by all means impeach based on wishful thinking.

Big mistake.  McConnell..... er, the Senate will eventually vote it down, making it appear that he's "innocent".

I keep thinking of Heath Ledger's Joker, facing down Batman's motorcycle: "Come on, come on, I want you to do it.  I WANT you to do it."

There are always a couple things to keep in mind here.

1.  If removed from office due to Impeachement, he would be able to see the writing on the wall and might just make everything worse before it is over.

2.  Pence would become President. I shudder at that too.

3.  If he loses in the next election, he will become the most damaging lame duck ever.

Just my opinion though.

I add number 3 as if he survived Impeachment in office.  But he may go "Godzilla" regardless.

The question is, it even possible that he could be impeached? I mean
guilty or not the Senate is not going to impeach. Therefore he will take
this as exoneration and go even crazier.

The cynic in me has me wondering if Trump so blatantly asked for dirt on Biden's son from the Ukranian president specifically to nudge the Dems into starting impeachment hearings, thinking that it will help him in the end.

I would like to think all his idiocy is calculated misdirection, but I think it’s really just idiocy.

********

The impeachment is the actual bringing of charges. In the US, the House of Representatives is responsible for that aspect of it. The Senate is responsible for the actual trial that comes from the impeachment. So it looks like the impeachment will happen, but your conclusion is probably correct in that the Senate will probably not find him guilty of anything.
