Agreed. Times change, and humanity must change with them. We used to need to wear fur to keep warm. But at the current time, we can keep ourselves plenty warm without bothering animals or looking for the zipper.

Here's a change that could continue through 50 states that I would applaud!

Of course, we must look at the down side. Animals bred for fur will quickly diminish in numbers and even disappear. The model is the horse. Once the most common form of transportation. Replaced by motor vehicles, they almost vanish.

Alice Munro wrote a memorable short story set on a mink fur farm. She lets a horse out that was going to be shot and discovers she is forgiven by her father for being 'only a girl', as in: sentimental, soft-hearted etc. It was one of the most memorable stories I read when I was younger. It also made me aware of how normalized things like keeping minks in little cages, drowning kittens, and offing larger animals with bolt guns that weren't always perfectly effective, once was.
